Baker Frank Bench (1883-1963) was approached by the inventor Otto Rohwedder to try out his new Bread slicing machine in 1928. On July 7, 1928, the first loaves of sliced bread were produced. The Chillicothe Baking Company Bakery building is located on 1st and Elm Streets.
