This photo is a portrait of Union General Alexander McDowell McCook (1831–1903). He had led several battles during the Civil War. The McCook Post No. 34 G.A.R. Civil War Memorial is currently located on the lawn of the Barton County Courthouse, the downtown square of Lamar, MO, which was erected in 1910, in his honor by the G. A. R. Post Number 34.
