Knob Noster State Park Camp Bobwhite Director's Cabin

The Works Progress Administration constructed the original Camp Bobwhite Director's Cabin in the late 1930s. Its exterior has changed little over the past several decades. As you can see from the earliest image, the park's road ended at a small parking lot in front of the cabin. Today, the lot remains, but the roadway extends past the cabin to the six barracks-style cabins.

As indicated by the structure's title, the director's cabin, once served as the initial drop-off point for incoming campers so that the camp director could offer guidance and planning. Today, most campers meet at the dining hall, while the camp's director or leader uses the small cabin as sleeping quarters. Camp Shawnee also has a Director's Cabin, which would serve the same function.
